The monthly concerts have been a tradition started by Prof. Andrzej Szczeklik, after whom the 2nd Chair in Internal Medicine of the JU Medical College was named. To brighten up the atmosphere in the hospital and entertain the patients he purchased the now famous white piano.

The concerts are held monthly on the initiative of the current head of the Clinic Prof. Jacek Musiał. Music is performed by the staff of the  Academy of Music in Kraków as well as the "PAUeczka Akademicka" ensemble established by Prof. Szczeklik, which consists of students and PhD candidates of Kraków higher education institutions and professors of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. The audience generally comprises patients, although all music lovers are welcome to join at any time.
