For the first time, JU Museum Collegium Maius will display an Armenian chalice veil previously owned by the Armenian Apostolic Church and used during worship services in the Surb Karapet Monastery in Mush (Turkey).
Due to its origin, the veil is a unique when it comes to Polish collections, which feature mostly Polish Armenian artefacts. Only several items from the monastery remain in the world, as it was destroyed in World War I during the Armenian Genocide by the Young Turks regime.
Aside from being displayed during the Museum’s standard operating hours, the veil will also be shown during special presentations on every Wednesday between 21 August and 25 September 2019 at 3.30 p.m. (visitors are kindly asked to gather on the Collegium Maius courtyard near the well).
Reservations can be made by phone (+48 12 663 12 92) or e-mail (collegiummaius.info@uj.edu.pl).
