Jubilee Conference of the JU Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology

The conference The latest achievements in biochemistry, biophysics and biotechnology – 50 years of history of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology will take place Kraków from September 23 to 24, 2021. The event will be held in a hybrid mode - both online and onsite.

The conference will be an opportunity to present the history of the faculty, which stemmed from the JU Institute of Molecular Biology (JU IMB), established in 1970. It will bring together scientists who started their research career at the JU IMB, the current faculty staff and their collaboratiors from Polish and foreign research centres.

The conference was initially planned for May 2020, but it was postponed due to the pandemic outbreak.

The participants will include a special guest: Prof. Virginijus Šikšnys from the University of Vilnius, one of the discoverers of CRISPR/Cas9 as a method of gene modification, winner of several awards, including the Norwegian Kavli Prize.

The Jubilee conference of the FBBB has been organised under the honorary auspices of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Jacek Popiel. It was co-funded from the Doskonała nauka (“Perfect research”) programme by the Ministry of Education and Science.
