The Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences has been integrating the Polish academic community since its establishment in 1872. Even during the time of the partitions of Poland, it overcame all challenges, bringing together researchers from the occupied territories as well as the largest communities of the Polish diaspora. Reopened in 1989, after being forcibly closed by the communist regime for 35 years, it carries out many activities in three areas: organising and supporting research, integrating academic communities and promotes scientific accomplishments to the general public. The year 2022 marks 150 years of transforming the Scientific Association of Kraków into the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences.
