Let's talk science

Last week, 25 young researchers competed to go through to the Polish Famelab Final on 11 May at Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw. The participants' task was explain a concept in science, mathematics or engineering in just three minutes.

The Jagiellonian University was represented by four representatives:

  • Wojciech Ganczarek, Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Studies student
  • Adam Gągol, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science PhD student
  • Marcin Krzykawski, Faculty of Medicine, PhD student
  • Zdzisław Pogoda, PhD holder, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science

The jury consisting of Prof. Marek Abramowicz, Dr Jacek Wasilewski, Irena Cieślińska, Piotr Najsztub, and Monika Koperska selected ten participants who will appear in the National Final. Adam Gągol from the Jagiellonian University is among them.

The winner of the Polish edition will receive an award of 30 000 PLN for research and 5000 PLN for any purpose.

FameLab is designed to inspire and motivate young scientists and engineers to actively engage with the public and stakeholders. With a proven format, honed over many competitions in more than 15 countries by the British Council, FameLab transcends cultures and languages. The robust training, coaching and recognition builds confidence and skills allowing the alumni to put into practise their skills in a wide variety of situations.
