Dr Monika Florczak-Wątor awarded a prestigious grant

The Foundation for Polish Science has announced the results of the 6th edition of the "Pomost" programme aimed at providing assistance to the scholars who have children and come back to the academic activities after parental leave. The Foundation provides fourteen grants for the academics from the field: Bio, Info, Techno and three grants for those specializing in other fields (law, philosophy, and mathematics). The total value of the grants is PLN 5,219,094.

Dr Monika Florczak Wątor from the JU Faculty of Law and Administration is among the grant winners. She has received PLN 226,900 to carry out an international research project Horizontal Dimension of Constitutional Rights to be carried out by June 2015. It aims to examine and describe the ways in which constitutional rights function in the relations between private entities in selected countries and determine the possible application of these models in the Polish legal system. One part of the project will involve collaboration with the University in Bern in the area of protection of personal data, including biometric data.

Dr Monika Florczak-Wątor works at the Chair in Constitutional Law of the Jagiellonian University. She graduated in law from the JU Faculty of Law and Administration and in political science (specialization: international relations) from the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies. She was granted PhD degree in 2005, for her doctoral thesis in the field of constitutional law.
