JU named the best university in Poland

The ranking prepared by Perspektywy magazine and Rzeczpospolita daily assessed 229 Polish (private and state) universities in 33 categories, which fell into six main groups: prestige, research potential, research effectiveness, innovation, studying conditions and internationalisation.

The Jagiellonian University received the highest score in the given categories:

  • prestige
  • research potential
  • research effectiveness
  • publications and citations

The Jagiellonian University has also topped the ranking of the best faculties. Among the top ones were: foreign languages, linguistics, Polish studies, philosophy, history, knowledge of countries and regions, pedagogy and education, psychology and pharmacy.

"The result achieved in the ranking list acknowledges the work of the whole university together with, as I always stress, our very talented students. Ranking lists always motivate but there is no need to exaggerate their role. Now we should analyse our results in particular categories so as to know our weaknesses. It will be a valuable experience," said JU Rector Prof. dr hab. med. Wojciech Nowak.
