Jagiellonian University ranked 311 in Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

Only three Polish universities were listed among 500 universities most effectively represented on the internet according to Webometrics University Ranking, which assesses university web presence, visibility and web access.

The University of Warsaw achieved the best result (271 place). The Jagiellonian University took second place for the second consecutive year (311), and Warsaw University of Technology third (320).
The ranking took into consideration universities from all over the world, including 440 institutions in Poland. First places in the ranking were taken by American universities. Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University were on top of the list.

English universities were the leaders in Europe. Oxford and Cambridge were ranked 18th and 20th, respectively.

Webometrics Ranking is published twice a year by the Spanish National Research Council in Madrid. This ranking measures how strongly a university is represented on the internet. Among the factors taken into account are university domain, number of subpages and attached files. The central hypothesis of this approach is that strong web presence translates into university high prestige and performance.
