JU medical students' dissertation entitled Coagulation profile in patients undergoing elective laparoscopic surgery was awarded the first prize at the international conference for medical students (The Leiden International Medical Students Conference 2011) which took place at the oldest Dutch university in Leiden.

The dissertation was written by Michał Natkaniec, Kamil Szczupak and Mateusz Ostachowski and  supervised by Maciej Matłok, PhD, and Michał Pędziwiatr, MD, from the Chair in General Surgery of the Jagiellonian University.
