On 26 March Bronisław Komorowski, President of the Republic of Poland, has bestowed the title of professor upon academics, including two JU employees:

• Albert Gorzkowski, Professor of Humanities, JU Faculty of Polish Studies Chair of Old Polish Literature,
• Krzysztof Loska, Professor of Humanities, JU Faculty of Management and Social Communication Department of Film Theory and Anthropology.

According to the Act on academic degrees and academic title and degrees and title in art, professorship is bestowed by the President of the Republic of Poland on the basis of a motion put forward by the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles. Professorship may be bestowed upon any associate professor with proper accomplishments and teaching success.
