Professor Jan Potempa awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science

For the twentieth time in the Foundation's history, the Council of the Foundation for Polish Science has given awards for outstanding scientific achievements. The award in Life and Earth Sciences went to Prof. Jan Potempa from the JU Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, who has been honoured for characterizing a new family of bacteria proteinases and describing their role in the development of periodontium diseases.

The awards of the Foundation for Polish Science have been given since 1992. They are widely recognized as the most important and prestigious Polish awards for scientific achievements. This year they are worth 200 thousand zlotys.
