JU encourages Brazilians to study in Kraków

Between 18–25 March, representatives of several Polish educational institutions (the Jagiellonian University among them), the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Foundation for Development of the Education System have been visiting Brazil to encourage Brazilian students to study in Poland. The visit was also aimed to help establish contact with Brazilian academic institutions.

The programme of the delegation included dozens of promotional events. For eight days, the JU was promoted amongst the students and academics from six educational institutions in Brasilia, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro as well as numerous members of Polish diaspora. The programme also included a series of meetings, workshops and participation in the most important Brazilian education fair, Salão do Estudante.

Apart from the representatives of the Jagiellonian University, the delegations consisted of academic staff from the University of Warsaw, University of Silesia in Katowice as well as a number of technological (Warsaw University of Technology, Wrocław University of Technology, AGH University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, Opole University of Technology, Kielce University of Technology), medical (Medical University of Gdańsk, Poznan University of Medical Science, Wroclaw Medical University, Medical University of Warsaw) environmental (Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences), military (Polish Air Force Academy), non-state (Collegium Civitas) and vocational (Angelus Silesius State School of Higher Vocational Education in Wałbrzych) educational institutions.

Last October, Poland entered the Brazilian Science without Borders (Ciência sem fronteiras) scholarship programme. It is primarily aimed for the students of exact sciences, medicine, IT and it allows the most capable to study at the best universities in the world. The goal of the programme is to establish 110,000 scholarships worldwide. Brazilian students that are successful in academic contests or possess formidable academic achievements are eligible for the programme.

The Polish promotional stand, co-organised by the Foundation for Development of the Education System, as part of the Ready, Study, Go! Poland. The website go-poland.pl has been prepared for this occasion.

The Polish Embassy in Brasilia and Consulate-General in Curitiba were active participants in the organisation of the delegation.
