The journal Bio-Algorithms and Med-Systems has been issued since 2005 by the Department of Bioinformatics and Telemedicine of the JU Medical College. It provides a forum for the exchange of information in the interdisciplinary field of computational methods applied in medicine, presenting new algorithms and databases and fostering the progress in collaboration between medicine, computer science, physics, and biochemistry.

Until 2011 Bio-Algorithms and Med-Systems was a local, Polish periodical. However, in January 2012, thanks to the cooperation with the international publishing house de Gruyter, it became an international journal with 30 thousand libraries receiving information about it.
