Prof. Józef Dulak to be awarded by the Argentinean government

Prof. Józef Dulak, Head of the JU Department of Biotechnology, will receive the Dr. Luis Federico Leloir Prize from the Argentinean Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation. It is an award for foreign experts who have promoted and contributed to the enrichment of international cooperation, therefore strengthening the scientific and technological capacities of Argentine. The award ceremony will take place on 17 November 2014 in Buenos Aires.

In the official letter sent to the Jagiellonian University authorities, Águeda Suarez Porto de Menvielle, National Director of International Relations of the Ministry, wrote that Prof. Józef Dulak "has increasingly promoted the scientific interactions between Argentina and Poland, collaborating with Universidad de Buenos Aires and Universidad Nacional del Sur, promoting the visit of Argentine researchers to his laboratory, giving lectures in Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Bariloche and contributing to the financing of symposiums such as SISTAM 2010 and 2012 ‘The South American Symposium in Signal Transduction and Molecular Medicine'."

Prof. Józef Dulak is a distinguished scholar whose research in the field of biotechnology and medicine has garnered him a worldwide acclaim. He is the President of the European Vascular Biology Organisation (EVBO). He is also a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the Committee of Biotechnology and Committee of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He has been honoured with an honorary doctorate by the University of Orleans in France. His professional interests include vascular biology and medicine, stem cell biology, gene and cell therapy and their application in cardiovascular, cancerous, kidney, diabetic and muscular diseases.
