The innovative operation took place at the Children's University Hospital and was conducted by a team of cardiac surgeons who transplanted an artificial ventricle into a 6-year-old girl. If it wasn't for the transplantation, the child wouldn't have survived as she suffered from cardiopathy, which developed after a viral infection.  

It's been the third operation of this kind at the Children's University Hospital. The first operation took place in 2009 and involved another young patient – Zuzia. The funds were received from the Radio Zet Foundation. Eleven months later Zuzia underwent a heart transplantation. Another patient, a 3-year-old boy, whose life was saved thanks to the ventricular transplantation is listed on the heart waiting list.

The transplantations of artificial ventricles are conducted extremely rarely, in special situations, and are funded by the National Health Service.
