A session within the framework of TEMPUS FUSE programme

On 25–26 September 2014, the Jagiellonian University was visited by representatives of Serbian higher education institutions participating in the TEMPUS project, entitled Fostering University Support Services and Procedures for Full Participation in the European Higher Education Area, coordinated by the University of Niš in Serbia. Among the guests were Prof. Zoran Nikolic, Vice-Rector of the University of Niš, Prof. Nada Kovacevic, Vice-Rector of the University of Belgrade, and Prof. Zarko Barbaric, Vice-Rector of the State University of Novi Pazar as well as representatives of the academic community and employees of international cooperation offices of Serbian higher education institutions.

On 25 September, they took part in a session on strategic issues concerning internationalisation of universities, which was opened by Prof. Stanisław Kistryn, JU Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds.

The programme of the meeting included presentations and discussions related to internationalisation of the educational process and research, moderated by Prof. Zdzisław Mach, JU Rector's Proxy for International Relations, Prof. Elżbieta Mańczak-Wohlfeld, Head of the Team for Study Internationalisation, Dr Monika Stawicka, Assistant Director of the Foreign Language Centre, Mirosław Klimkiewicz, Head of the International Students Office, and Dr Maria Kantor from the International Relations Office. Dr hab. Piotr Horbatowski discussed the JU Centre of Polish Language and Culture in the World, while representatives of the student government presented their role in the functioning of the university, particularly in international committees.

During the following workshops and meetings on 26 September, the participants discussed issues related to shaping international strategies of higher education institutions, legislation concerning admissions of international students, practical aspects of internationalisation of study programmes, international research programmes as well as various aspects of teaching in international environment.
