On 26 November, distinguished Polish scholars and academic tutors have received the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Awards in the Royal Castle in Warsaw. They have been awarded in several categories: extraordinary scientific or scientific-technological achievement, research and teaching assistance, outstanding merits, and organisational excellence.

Three of those scholars are associated with the Jagiellonian University: Prof. Małgorzata Barańska (Faculty of Chemistry, awarded for extraordinary scientific achievement), Prof. Maria Nowakowska (Faculty of Chemistry, awarded in the research and teaching assistance category), and Prof. Franciszek H. Szafraniec (Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, honoured with an award for his outstanding merits).
