JU popularises science

On 22 November 2014, the closing ceremony of the INTER Popularisation Contest, organised by the Foundation for Polish Science within the framework of the SKILLS project, was held in Warsaw. Each of the 19 finalists had five minutes to present their research. They were then assessed by a committee which was comprised of Prof. Maciej Żylicz (president), Dr Ilona Iłowiecka-Tańska, Dr Halina Waś (one of the 13th edition winners), Dorota Romanowska ("Newsweek"), Krzysztof Michalski (Polskie Radio, Telewizja Polska), and Edwin Bendyk ("Polityka" magazine).

There were three prize categories:

  • 1st prize – 120,000 PLN
  • 2nd prize – 100,000 PLN
  • 3rd prize – 80,000 PLN

80% of the prize will be used for research funding, while 20% is an individual reward for the winner.
