Japanese geneticists award Dr Ewelina Pośpiech from the JU Institute of Zoology

The Japan Society of Human Genetics has awarded the JHG Young Scientist Award for the best article in the Journal of Human Genetics to Dr Ewelina Pośpiech from the JU Department of Genetics and Evolutionism. The award was presented to Dr Pośpiech on 21 November 2014, during the 59th JSHG congress entitled Diversity and Networking. The author delivered a lecture on her research.

The awarded article, entitled Gene-gene interactions contribute to eye colour variation in humans has been published in 2011. It is a presentation of Dr Pośpiech's PhD thesis. This discovery may have a great practical value, since it may help in eye colour prediction in criminalistics.
