Young JU scientists awarded in the Mentoring programme

The Foundation for Polish Science has announced the winners of this year's edition of the Mentoring programme, realised within the framework of the Skills FNP project. 13 out of 16 applying scholars presented their research to the reviewing committee. Considering its recommendations, the Foundation has admitted 9 new participants, who will begin their cooperation with distinguished researchers. Three of those participants are from the Jagiellonian University: Dr inż. Natalia Szkaradek from the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry, Dr Daniel Załuski from the Department of Pharmacognosy, and Dr Tomasz Żuradzki from the Department of Professional Ethics.

The aim of the programme is to facilitate cooperation between young researchers and their more experienced colleagues from Poland and abroad, particularly via one-to-one mentoring. The participants may qualify as long as they are PhDs working in a Polish research unit or they have just completed their PhD programme (no longer than a year before applying). The Foundation provides funds for 4 meetings with a mentor.

The key aspect of the mentoring programme is deciding on the method of cooperation between the two parties. The Foundation leaves this decision entirely to the mentors and their "pupils."
