The Faculty of Philology expands its cooperation with Capgemini

On 26 February 2015, Dr hab. Elżbieta Górska, prof. UJ, Dean of the JU Faculty of Philology, and Marek Grodziński, member of the board of directors of Capgemini Polska and head of the European BPO Capgemini network, have signed an agreement expanding the cooperation of the two institutions. The meeting was also attended by Dr hab. Władysław Witalisz, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, Dr Marcin Jaroszek, the Faculty's coordinator for external investments, and Iwona Szramik and Karolina Kubala, corporate identity specialists.

"The JU Faculty of Philology collaborates with many companies which are potential employers of its future graduates. It is with their help that we prepare the part of our teaching programme which is related to the dynamically evolving job market. The agreement we signed with Capgemini will help to develop even closer ties with the company and to better prepare students for the challenges they will face in the future," said Dr hab. Władysław Witalisz.

The agreement concerns cooperation in teaching the JU Faculty of Philology students the skills necessary to be attractive on the job market. It will include organising and conducting joint training courses, workshops, seminars and research projects.

In the academic year 2014/2015, the cooperation resulted in an optional course entitled Introduction to the World of Business, which was very well received by the students. The subjects discussed during this course included successful business communication, functioning of financial markets, corporate language, development in an international organisation, introduction to marketing and time management.

The Jagiellonian University has been working closely with Capgemini for several years now. According to Marek Grodziński, the company's involvement in increasing the skills of JU graduates will be even higher.

The Faculty of Philology collaborates with many well known international corporations, very active on the job market. Apart from Capgemini, the include IBM BTO Business Consulting Services, Motorola Polska and Versita.
