On 1 October 2015 the Jagiellonian University presented silver medals "Plus ratio quam vis" to professors Ottmar Schneck, Bernard Maciejewski and Stephan Höfer from the ESB Business School of Reutlingen University, Germany.

On 1 October 2015, after the opening ceremony of the new academic year 2015/2016, the Jagiellonian University presented silver medals "Plus ratio quam vis" to professors Ottmar Schneck, Bernard Maciejewski and Stephan Höfer from the ESB Business School of Reutlingen University, Germany. The motion to confer the medals had been put forward by the Faculty of Management and Social Communication of the Jagiellonian University. The ceremony was attended by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak, the Dean of the JU Faculty of Management and Social Communication Prof. Jacek Ostaszewski and a number of distinguished guests, including the Consul General of Germany to Kraków Dr Werner Köhler.

After the opening addresses delivered by Prof. Wojciech Nowak and Prof Jacek Ostaszewski, the laudatory speech was given by Prof. Tadeusz Borkowski of the JU Institute of Economics, Finance and Management. Prof. Borkowski discussed the crucial role of Prof. Maciejewski in the development of a double degree bachelor's programme, as well as the invaluable contribution of his successor as the person responsible for the mutual cooperation – Prof. Stephan Höfer. Then he briefly discussed the most important outcomes of this collaboration and stressed that it could not have been successful without the support of the Dean of ESB Prof. Ottmar Schneck, who also played the key role in the organisation of a series of seminars for employees of one of major German banks, which have been held in Kraków and taught by Jagiellonian University lecturers.

On behalf of the awarded professors, Prof. Ottmar Schneck thanked the Jagiellonian University and pointed to the role of joint study programmes in European integration. He also stated that he considers the award of the medal not only a great honour but also a major responsibility.

Concluding the official part of the ceremony, the JU Rector referred to the Latin motto of the medal – plus ratio quam vis - stressing that reason's victory over force it advocates cannot be taken for granted, and urged the participants to further promote peaceful international cooperation.
