On 1 December 2015, the Jagiellonian University was visited by Simon Jabulani Ntombela, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Poland.
The visit began with a tour of the JU Collegium Maius Museum. Next, the diplomat was received by Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector, in his office in Collegium Novum. The meeting was attended by Prof. Bogdan Szlachta, Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, and Prof. Robert Kłosowicz, Head of the Institute of Political Sciences and International Relations. They discussed future cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and South African higher education institutions. After the meeting, the ambassador delivered a lecture entitled International Policy of South Africa at the Institute of Political Sciences and International Relations, as part of the Jagiellonian Diplomatic Encounters project.
Simon Jabulani Ntombela was born in 1961. He has been a diplomat for a very long time. He served as an advisor in South African embassies in Egypt and Uganda. In 2015, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to Poland. He speaks 8 out of 11 official South African languages, including English, as well as French and Arabic.
