JU to run another course for Romance speakers

During the 3-week course, 35 students from Romance countries will attend Polish language classes and learn about the Polish history and culture.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has announced the results of the competition for organising the course "School of Polish Language and Culture – Course for Romance Speakers 2016."  After assessing five received entries according to the competition criteria, the committee has chosen the Jagiellonian University as the course organiser. It will receive over 25 thousand zlotys for that purpose.

During the 3-week course, held in January and February next year, 35 students from Romance countries will attend language classes at four levels of proficiency in Polish: A2, B1, B2 and C1. They will also be made familiar with the Polish culture and history. For the second consecutive time the course will be organised by the JU School of Polish Language and Culture.

The previous edition of the course involved students from Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Romania and Moldova. During their stay in Kraków the participants attended lectures devoted to various aspects of the Polish history and culture and an intense course of Polish as a foreign language. Their stay in Poland also included sightseeing, participation in cultural events and meetings with foreigners studying at the Centre of Polish Language and Culture in the World as well as Polish students who would like to become teachers of Polish as a second and foreign language.
