Prof. Thomas Spray awarded by the Jagiellonian Unversity

Prof. Thomas Spray is a world-known authority in treatment of congenital heart defects in children who has significantly contributed to the development of children's cardiology in Kraków.

On June 14, 2016 the silver medal "Plus ratio quam vis" was presented to Professor Thomas Spray, the head of Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, who has significantly contributed to the development of children's cardiology in Kraków. A short laudatory address to honour the medal recipient was delivered by Prof. Janusz Skalski, the head of Cardiac Surgery Clinic at the University Children's Hospital in Prokocim.

Prof. Thomas Spray is a world-known authority in treatment of congenital heart defects in children. For many years he has supported physicians from the University Children's Hospital in Prokocim with his knowledge and experience. He trains Kraków cardiac surgeons in his hospital in Philadephia and takes active part in organising the international Kraków Workshop on Congenital Heart Disease. Thanks to Prof. Spray, the event is attended by the most eminent experts in congenital heart diseases, whereas the workshops and conferences which are part of it are among the most prestigious in Europe. The cooperation with Prof. Spray has enabled the university hospital to obtain state-of-the-art technologies and implement the latest surgical techniques.

The medal award ceremony was part of the meeting marking the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Kraków Medical Society.
