Jagiellonian University among world's 'rising stars' in research

The Jagiellonian University took 68th place in this year's edition of the ranking Nature Index 2016 Rising Stars, which examines the affiliation of the authors of articles published in 68 prestigious international journals with the aim to identify the world's top 100 ascendant performers in the area of research.

The list of 100 most improved institutions includes two Polish research centres: the Jagiellonian University, ranked 68th, and the University of Warsaw, ranked 96th.

Besides, the JU tops the list of top 25 ascendant performers in South East Europe, which also includes six other Polish institutions, the highest ranked of which are the University of Warsaw and the National Centre for Nuclear Research, which took 3rd and 10th place respectively.

It is also worth noting that Poland was sixth among countries which experienced the greatest rise in high-quality research output in the world.
