Jagiellonian University included in the QS World University Ranking

According to the QS World University Ranking, the Jagiellonian University is among the four percent of the best higher education institutions in the world. Therefore, it is one of the six Polish universities to be included in the ranking.

Similarly to last year’s edition of the ranking, first place was taken by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was closely followed by Stanford University and Harvard University. Amongst the Polish university, the highest position was taken by the University of Warsaw (366). The Jagiellonian University was ranked between 431 and 440, the Warsaw University of Technology – between 601 and 650, while the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, University of Lodz, and University of Wroclaw were ranked as 701+.

The ranking is based on several criteria: academic reputation (40%), employer reputation (10%), student-to-faculty ration (20%), citations per faculty (20%), and international faculty and student ratio (5% each).

The ranking has been conducted since 2004 by Quacquarelli Symonds, an organisation specialising in the issues related to higher education. The ranking’s main purpose is to provide prospective students with means to make an informed decision about choosing a university and to promote the idea of studying abroad.
