Opening of the JU Centre for Taiwanese Studies

On Monday 17 October 2016., the official opening of the JU Centre for Taiwanese Studies took place in Collegium Novum. Taiwanese Ambassador Ming-Jeng Chen, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office at the Jagiellonian University, was welcomed by Rector Wojciech Nowak.

The meeting was attended by the ambassador’s associates, Yehshin Chu and Lika Liu, as well as JU staff – Prof. Adam Jelonek and Dr Adina Zemanek. During the meeting, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding concerning the establishment of the Centre. The participants discussed the prospects of increased cooperation and popularisation of Far Eastern studies among young Poles. At the end of the meeting, the ambassador and the rector unveiled a specially designed plaque of the Centre.
