JU Researchers co-authored a manual on Kurdish language education and human rights

JU Researchers co-authored a manual on Kurdish language education and human rights

A book resulting from a research-educational project “Ez mafê xwe dizanim! I know my rights!", run by Jagiellonian University researchers in 2014-2016, has just been published.

The project was carried out within the framework of the Erasmus Plus programme, in collaboration with the Kurdish Institute in Brussels, the German organisation Pro-Humanitate, and the Kurdish organisation Kurdi-Der.

The project was aimed at analysing the situation of Kurdish language in Turkish Kurdistan, gathering information from non-governmental organisations specialising in linguistic and cultural education in that region with the goal of writing a book based on their experience, which will provide advice to Kurdish organisations in both Turkey and Europe. The undertaking involved several study visits to Belgium, Turkish Kurdistan, and Germany, as well as one study visit to Kraków, which took place in autumn 2015.

The manual was co-authored by Jagiellonian University researchers who have participated in the project How to make a voice audible? Continuity and change of Kurdish culture and of social reality in postcolonial perspectives, as well as JU students of Iranian Studies. The Polish co-authors of the book are Krzysztof Lalik, Karol Kaczorowski, Joanna Bocheńska, Olga Sewiłło, and Oskar Podlasiński. The collaborators included Olga Ślepowrońska (Czuj Czuj project), the Armenian School, acting under the auspices of the Armenian Cultural Association, and the High School in Bochnia.

The manual is available on the website of the Kurdish Institute of Brussels.
