JU Academic Choir Camerata Jagelloniaca awarded at prestigious Choir competitions

The Jagiellonian University Choir Camerata Jagellonica won prestigious awards at the 7th International Choir Competition and Festival “Cançó Mediterrània” held in Lloret de Mar and Barcelona, and the International Pau Casals Choir Competition. The choir, conducted by Janusz Wierzgacz, won Silver Diplomas in two categories: sacred choral music and pop music.

During the audition, the JU academic choir Camerata Jagellonica performed the pieces O Tiebie Radujetsia by Romuald Twardowski, Modlitwa, gdy dziatki spać idą by Wacław of Szamotuły, Laudate Dominum by Urmas Sisask, Piosenka jest dobra na wszystko by Jerzy Wasowski and And so it goes by Billy Joel, in which the solo parts were taken by Weronika Pacholec and Sebastian Brejnak.

In addition to the contest performances, the choir Camerata Jagellonica and the University Female Voice Choir conducted by Janusz Wierzgacz, as well as the JU Academic Choir conducted by Oleg Sznicar gave a concert in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and St. Eulalia in Barcelona. Besides, the Choir performed at the ending ceremony of the festival on Lloret de Mar town square.

The competition featured 14 choirs from Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, and Faroe Islands.
