JU to expand cooperation with Minzu University of China

On 26 June 2018 the Jagiellonian University hosted a visit by a delegation from Minzu University of China, led by the Vice-President for International and Academic Affairs Prof. Song Min.

The Chinese delegation, which also included representatives of selected academic units and the Office of International Relations, was received by the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek. The Jagiellonian University was also represented by senior members of faculties and institutes especially interested in developing cooperation with Minzu University: the Faculty of Geography and Geology, Faculty of Chemistry, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Institute of Economy, Finance and Management, Centre for Comparative Studies of Civilisations, Institute of the Middle and Far East, and the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology as well as the International Relations Office.

As stressed by Prof. Adam Jelonek, during his opening address, Minzu University is one of two Chinese higher education institutions with the longest history of collaboration with the Jagiellonian University (along with Beijing Foreign Studies University – Beiwai). The meeting participants discussed the prospects for strengthening the partnership between the two universities, including the creation of double degree programmes and further development of student and academic staff exchange. The representatives of both institutions agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding, which will provide a framework for more detailed agreements at the faculty and institute level.
