Jagiellonian University visited by Balkan university leaders

On July 5-6, 2018, the Jagiellonian University is hosting a visit from universities of Ljubljana, Novi Sad, and Sarajevo. As part of the visit, the delegations met with JU authorities, with whom they discussed prospects for academic collaboration.

The delegations from Balkan universities are led by the Rector of the Univeristy of Ljubljana  Prof. Igor Papič, the Rector of University of Novi Sad Prof. Dušan Nikolić and the Vice-Rector of the University of Sarajevo Prof. Aleksandra Nikolic.

During the meeting, which was held on 5 July in JU Collegium Maius, the visitors were welcomed by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak. The participants also included the Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds Prof. Stanisław Kistryn, the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek and the JU Rector’s Proxy for Innovation Prof. Andrzej Adamski. The representatives of Balkan Universities and the Jagiellonian University delivered presentations about their institutions and then discussed possibilities of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in such areas as double degree programmes, Erasmus+ student exchange, joint research projects, as well as grants from the National Academic Exchange Agency (NAWA) and the EU Funds.

The programme of two-day visit at the Jagiellonian University also includes a tour of JU Museum Collegium Maius as well as visits to the SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre, the JU Natural Sciences Education Centre, the Faculty of Chemistry, and the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science.
