JU expands academic cooperation with China

On 18 September the Jagiellonian University was visited by representatives of two Chinese institutions of higher education and research: the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO and the Southern University of Science and Technology.

The Chinese delegation, led by Li Ming, Director of the International Centre for Higher Education, was received by the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek. The meeting in Collegiun Novum was also attended by the Director of the JU Confucius Institute in Kraków Dr Małgorzata Osińska, as well as members of selected JU faculties and university units responsible for international cooperation.

In his welcome address, Prof. Adam Jelonek stressed the role of cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and East Asian institutions of higher education, which has rapidly developed in recent years. The partnership with Chinese academic institutions is considered particularly important, especially in the context of cooperation between Poland and China within the framework of the One Belt One Road initiative.

During the meeting, the participants discussed prospects for mutual cooperation in education and research, with special focus on launching double degree and joint degree prorgammes of study.
