Ambassador of Columbia visits the Jagiellonian University

Ambassador of Columbia visits the Jagiellonian University

On 26 October 2018 the Jagiellonian University was visited by the Ambassador of the Republic of Columbia to Poland Javier Dario Higuera Ángel. The diplomat was received in Collegium Novum by the JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak.

The meeting with the Ambassador was also attended by the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek and the Director of the JU Małopolska Centre for Biotechnology Prof. Kazimierz Strzałka. The conversation focused on the prospects for the development of cooperation between the Jagiellonian University, especially the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology, and Columbian institutions of higher education. As stressed by the Ambassador, the peace agreement signed in 2016, which ended the 50-year-long civil war, enhanced his country’s potential for international academic cooperation and the prospective partnership with the Jagiellonian University and other Polish higher education institutions will facilitate knowledge exchange needed for the stabilisation process.

Javier Dario Higuera Ángel was appointed Ambassador of Columbia to Poland in 2017. His previous posts included Consul in Belgium, the Netherlands, as well as Charge d’Affaires in Bulgaria and Minister Plenipotentiary to the European Union.
