On 27 November 2017, the Jagiellonian University hosted a visit from the Chinese Embassy in Poland. The delegation was led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic Poland Liu Guangyuan.
The diplomats were received in Collegium Novum by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak, who was accompanied by the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek and the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Kraków, JU, Prof. Xingzhong Hanm. The meeting participants discussed the prospects for further development of cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and Chinese institutions of higher education, with special focus on double degree programmes. Other topics included the planned opening of a new building of the Confucius Institute in Kraków as well as the possibilities of the adaptation of scientifically proven methods from the traditional Chinese medicine by healthcare institutions in Western countries.
The meeting was followed by guided sightseeing of Collegium Novum, after which the Ambassador gave a lecture to JU students in the building’s Assembly Hall. The title of the talk was: The Path of Development. 40 years of Changes and Prospects for the Future.
Liu Guangyuan has been the Ambassador of China to Poland since March 2018.
