JU visited by the Ambassador of Japan

On 24 April 2019 the Ambassador of Japan to Poland Tsukasa Kawada paid a visit to the Jagiellonian University. The diplomat was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Mission Satoru Takahashi and Takita Tae from the Economic Department of the Embassy.

The visit began with the tour of the Jagiellonian University Museum Collegium Maius. Then the Japanese delegation was received by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak. The meeting participants also included the JU Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds Prof. Stanisław Kistryn and Prof. Piotr Laidler from the JU Internationalisation Committee. The conversation mainly focused on the current and future cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and Japanese institutions of research and higher education.

Tsukasa Kawada was born in 1955. He started work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in 1978 and since then has held a number of diplomatic positions, including the Consul General of Japan in Sydney and Strasbourg, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Algieria, as well a number of important positions within the Ministry. In 2018, Mr Kawada was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Poland.
