Delegation from Tishk University visits the JU

On 29 April, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Jagiellonian University and Tishk University was signed in JU Collegium Novum.

The Jagiellonian University was represented by JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek, Dr hab. Marta Najda-Janoszka (Faculty of Management and Social Communication), Dr Karolina Rak (Institute of Far and Middle East), Dr Joanna Boheńska (Faculty of Philology), Dr hab. Paweł Laidler (Faculty of International and Political Studies), and Adriana Hołub-Palonka (International Relations Office). The delegation for Tishk University consisted of its President Dr Idris Hadi Salih, Director of International Relations Office Prof. Ahmet Oztas, and Dr Ziyad Raoff, a representative of Kurdistan Regional Government.

The agreement with the Kurdish university will include exchange of students, exchange of research materials, publications and information, joint conferences and academic programmes, joint degree programmes, joint research activities and publications as well as exchange of academic and non-academic staff members. The participants of the meeting discussed various aspect of the future cooperation, such as further development of Kurdish studies and establishing double degree programmes in the areas of pharmacy, political science and international relations.

Tishk University is a private university which was founded in 2008 in Erbil. It comprises 5 faculties containing 9 departments: Engineering Faculty (Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering), Dentistry Faculty (Dentistry Department), Administrative Sciences and Economics (Economy Department and Business and Management Department), Education Faculty (English Language Teaching Department, Mathematics Teaching Department and Computer Teaching), and Science Faculty (Information Technologies Department).
