Ambasador of Armenia visits JU

On 15 May the Jagiellonian University hosted a visit by Samvel Mkrtchian, the Ambassador of Armenia to Poland. The delegation took a guided tour of the JU Museum Collegium Maius and met with the JU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs Prof. Armen Edigarian.

The topics discussed at the meeting included cultural and economic relations between Poland and Armenia and the prospects of extending the collaboration between the Jagiellonian University and Armenian higher education institutions. The participants also talked about the forthcoming Prof. Edigarian’s visit to Armenia, planned for September next year, which will mark the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Yerevan State University, which is the Jagiellonian University’s Erasmus exchange partner.

Samvel Mkrtchian was appointed the Ambassador to Poland in November 2018. Prior to that he was the Ambassador of Armenia to Lebanon. His previous posts included the Director of the Arms Control and International Security Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Armenian Ambassador to NATO.
