JU raises 1.8 million zlotys for coronavirus treatment

JU raises 1.8 million zlotys for coronavirus treatment

The campaign to raise funds for the Jagiellonian University Hospital has been a huge success. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors, the hospital received a sum seven times greater than originally intended. The sum will be spent for specialist equipment to combat coronavirus as well as personal protective equipment and everyday items.

The initial goal of the campaign #ujdlaszpitala, which started on March 21, was to raise 268 thousand zlotys for the system to decontaminate rooms with hydrogen peroxide. The device enables fast disinfection of a hospital room for patients who are infected or suspected of infection, which allows faster admission of new patients. The additional funds obtained during the campaign will be spent for further essential purchases.

As of 3 April 2020, about 1.8 million zlotys was accumulated in the dedicated bank account. The money will be spent for an endoscope monitor additionally equipped with disposable bronchoscopes and state-of-the-art tracheal tubes, as well as systems for the digitalisation of analogue bedside X-ray machines at the infectious diseases and intensive treatment departments, where patients infected or suspected of infection with SARS-CoV-2 have been treated. The rest of the acquired sum will be spent for personal protective equipment and everyday items, the shortages of which are badly needed in hospitals al over the country: sterile coveralls, reusable surgical gowns, disposable coats, three-layer surgical masks, filtering half-masks ffp2/ffp3/n95, protective goggles, visors and gloves.

The donations can be still be made to: Szpital Uniwersytecki w Krakowie, ul. Mikołaja Kopernika 36, 31-501 Kraków, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, account number: 85 1130 1150 0012 1143 8620 0006, title: UJDLASZPITALA.

It’s also possible to help the University Children’s Hospital by donating to: Fundacja "O Zdrowie Dziecka", account numer: 05 1240 4533 1111 0000 5425 8556, title: Wsparcie Szpitala COVID19 – Darowizna na cele pożytku publicznego.
