Una Europa Future University Lab: a new way of creating universities of the future

Una Europa Future University Lab: a new way of creating universities of the future

Innovative ideas developed within the framework of Una Europa require just as innovative form of collaboration. One of the strategic actions carried out by Una Europa is the Future University Lab project initiated by the Jagiellonian University. It was designed as a living laboratory aimed to create a space for a debate on the future role of universities in the society, develop new tools and models for scientific and educational cooperation within the European higher education system as well as assess and plan the future activities of Una Europa.

Future Lab is the embodiment of a novel methodology, according to which the most basic and fundamental problems are assessed by a team of visionaries who, unbound by organisational or legal restrictions and able to think independently and critically, can propose innovative solutions. Those solutions can then be further discusses by the implementation team, whose role is to propose effective and functional applications of the ideas.

The first results of results of this new framework will be available in the next year. Below is the complete list of four teams along with their members, who are now working on the following topics:

  • What is the essence of the European University of the Future?
  • How to integrate the universities with their ecosystem - locally, nationally and internationally?
  • How can universities become future-proof and resilient in an ever more rapidly changing world?
  • How should the digital dimension of the university of the future be conceived?
