Christmas meeting of Kraków academic community

On 20 December 2022 the traditional Christmas meeting of the academic community took place at the Jagiellonian University. It was attended by authorities of the Jagiellonian University and other higher education institutions from Kraków and Małopolska region, members of local and regional government, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of institutions of art and culture, as well as clergy of various denominations.

Wishing everybody merry Christmas, the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Jacek Popiel stressed that the academic community should always be a place of true freedom and dialogue between people with different opinions and beliefs.

Traditionally, a passage from the Bible was read out by the Head of JU Student Government Ms. Magdalena Herman. The event also featured the singing of Polish Christmas carols with the JU Song and Dance Ensemble ‘Słowianki’ and the traditional sharing of the Christmas wafer.
