International conference about the Holocaust held at JU

April 23 and 24 saw the conference The Holocaust and the Contemporary World organised by the JU Centre for Holocaust Studies, UNESCO Chair in Holocaust Education at the JU Institute of European Studies, University of Gdańsk, and McGill University.

The sessions featured scholars representing such diverse disciplines as anthropology, history, philosophy, sociology, psychology, literary studies, history of art, gender studies, memory studies, and postcolonial studies. The issues discussed at the conference pertained not only to the genesis, nature and course of the Holocaust, but also to the impact of this horrific genocide on the history of mankind and the shape of today's world in its various aspects, including politics, ethics, religion, art, economy, philosophy and mass culture.
