The main goal of the visit was to take part in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the institution's foundation.
The Jagiellonian University delegation consisting of the Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak, the Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs Prof. Andrzej Mania, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration Prof. Jerzy Pisuliński, and the Head of the Chair in Polish as a Foreign Language Prof. Władysław Miodunka visited the Ruhr University Bochum on 5-6 June 2015. The delegation went to Bochum at the invitation of the Ruhr University Rector Prof. Elmar W. Weiler to take part in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the institution's foundation.
During the jubilee ceremony, the JU Rector was presented with the medal "Pro Societate Multorum Annorum Colendis Studiis Aucta Atque Firmata" by the Rector of the University of Bochum. The decoration was bestowed upon the Jagiellonian University in recognition of the long-term mutual cooperation and academic exchange in many fields of study. The ceremony was also attended by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck.
