Progress in the research on heparin antidote

The Nanotechnology of Polymers and Biomaterials team (Faculty of Chemistry) led by Maria Nowakowska has conducted a research on the substances which would neutralize the influence of heparin. The substances act similarly to protamines (used as heparine antidotes) with the difference that they do not cause allergies.

Agnieszka Słowik, PhD, becomes a member the American Neurological Association

Agnieszka Słowik, PhD, the Head of the Institute of Neurogenetics and Chair in Neurology, Collegium Medicum, has been made a member of the American Neurological Association. The membership was granted to Agnieszka Słowik for her significant contribution into the research in the neurogenetics of cerebral stroke and degenerative diseases.

Opening of the Academic Year at the Jagiellonian University

The ceremony of the Opening of the Academic Year was held on 1 October 2010. The event was preceded by a Mass in St Anne's Church. At 10 a.m. a traditional procession of the university government and professors in black gowns proceeded from Collegium Maius to Auditorium Maximum. During the ceremony, freshers received their record books and all guests listened to this year's first lecture.
