New University Hospital 70 percent complete

The building complex for the University Hospital is being built at a 15-hectare site in Kraków-Prokocim. The entire construction is to be completed in April 2019. A consortium consisting of Warbud SA, VAMED Standortentwicklung und Engineering GmbH&CO KG, and Porr Polska SA is the general contractor of the project, whose total value is 1.2 billion PLN.

Tesco Foundation continues to help the Children’s University Hospital in Kraków

On 12 December, a new prodrobot – an automated device designed for rehabilitation of lower limbs of patients with gait dysfunction – was set up at the Children’s University Hospital in Kraków. The organisers of the fifth Tesco Charity Run have managed to collect over 200,000 PLN from about 3,000 runners. It was their help that allowed the hospital to acquire this high-tech piece of equipment.

On 7–11 December 2016, a JU delegation led by Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector, visited China to attend a series of meeting with higher education institution officials. Other members of the delegation included Prof. Zdzisław Mach, Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, Prof. Adam Jelonek, Head of the Institute of Institute of the Middle and Far East, Director of the Confucius Institute in Kraków as well as Han Xinzhong, Deputy Director of the Institute.

“We wanted to hear the truth from a trustworthy person, a Second World War hero, who was imprisoned by the Nazis and then by the Communists. The legendary professor set a roadmap for our political goals”, said the Prime Minister of Hungary, referring to his academic teacher Prof. Wacław Felczak, who played an important part in the foundation of Hungarian opposition movement in the 1970s and the 1980s.
