The Polish Sociological Association, JU Institute of Sociology and US Consulate General in Kraków invite you to attend a meeting with Prof. Michelle M. Morkert from the Concordia University Chicago, who will deliver a lecture entitled Making Sense of #MeToo and #TimesUp: the American and Polish Experiences.
Prof. Michelle M. Morkert is the founder and coordinator of the Women’s and Gender Studies programme and director of the Center for Policy and Social Justice at the Concordia University Chicago. In recent years, her academic interests are concerned with gender activism, militarism, human rights, and gender studies in higher education in the global perspective. In her teaching, she applies an intersectional approach to determine ways in which gender norms are shaped by popular culture.
Dr Justyna Struzik works at the JU Institute of Sociology. She is currently engaged in a post-doctoral research project Disentangling European HIV/AIDS Policies: Activism, Citizenship and Health, in which she focuses on the history of Polish HIV/AIDS policies. She wrote her PhD on queer movements. She is a member of the board of the Women’s Space Foundation. Her research is related to social movements, gender and sexuality sociology, social inequality, and social policies.
