JU New Year’s Concert

Date: 06.01.2019
Start Time: 6.00 p.m.
Place: JU Auditorium Maximum Assembly Hall, ul. Krupnicza 33
JU New Year’s Concert

The programme of the concert mainly consists of classical music masterpieces in unique arrangements. The traditional Jagiellonian University New Year’s gala will feature Maciej Niesiołowski, the MozART group, the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, as well as soloists: Ewa Harasimiuk (trombone), Agnieszka Kowaluk (mezzo-soprano) and Joanna Makarczuk (contrabass).

The musicians will perform the famous Eine Kleine Nachtmusic serenade by Mozart, Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Badinerie by Bach, Hungarian Dances by Brahms, parts of Peer Gynt by Grier and The Carnival of the Animals by Saint Saens, as well as pieces of opera and operetta music, along with syncopated music standards.

During the concert, the Beethoven Academy Orchestra will join their forces with MozART group in order to perform the greatest pieces of classical music in an untypical way. The boldly humorous music played on all kinds of instruments will go far beyond classical philharmonic performances.

Maciej Niesiołowski, a well-known cellist and conductor, will be the chairman of the gala.

Reduced tickets for 60 zlotys (available for JU staff, retired staff and entitled persons) are available from 21 November in JU Staff Benefits Office at ul. Straszewskiego 27, room 5, from Monday to Friday, from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. (phone: +48 12 663 14 66).
