Faculty of Chemistry, JU, awarded 10 stars in ExcellenceRanking 2010
60 European universities were selected and judged by the results of their research and internationalisation. This selected group of universities is called the "Excellence Group" of the respective subject (Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science and Psychology). For these Excellence Groups, an institutional survey as well as a student survey was conducted. For outstanding results in any category, a "star" was awarded. The Faculty of Chemistry, JU, was awarded a star in 10 categories.
The CHE Center for Higher Education Development selected the universities on the basis of eight criteria: publications, citations, outstanding researchers (Nobel prize winners, Fields Medalists), Marie Curie programmes, offering of an Erasmus Mundus master's course, teaching staff mobility, student mobility, and ERC grants.
CHE Center for Higher Education Development also gathered information on Master's and PhD programmes, research teams, main areas of research and gender distribution in staff and in student groups. The ranking provides information related to student life and includes details on accommodation, access to libraries, laboratories, career centres etc.
