Jagiellonian University Fund received an award in Warsaw

"Dobra Sieć" Foundation in cooperation with the Polish-American Freedom Foundation awarded the winners of the Dobre Stypendia 2012 (Good Scholarships 2012) Competition. The Jagiellonian University and Cracow University of Economics were joint winners in the category of "Scholarship programmes in the institutions of higher education". The awards were presented at a ceremony in Warsaw on 7 November.

The Jagiellonian University was awarded for running the Queen Jadwiga Scholarship scheme, which is supported by the funds from individual and institutional donors.  Its aim is to support academic staff and PhD students from East and Central Europe during their research stay in Kraków.
The programme has been run since 2000 and awarded 870 scholarship recipients.

In the 2012/2013 academic year 21 students will receive financial support as part of this project. The scholarship is worth 1500 zlotys a month. Every recipient is ensured health care service and accommodation in a double room in a student residential hall. Research stays take from 1 – 6 months, depending on a research project.

The competition, whose aim is to select the best scholarship scheme, has been organised for the third time.
