On 19 November 2018, the Jagiellonian University was visited by a delegation from the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), led by the institution's Chancellor His Royal Highness Crown Prince of Perlis, Malaysia, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

The delegation was received in Collegium Novum by the JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak. The Jagiellonian University was also represented by the Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds Prof. Stanisław Kistryn, the Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs of the Faculty of International and Political Studies Prof. Paweł Laidler, as well as heads of several other University units. The Malaysian delegation also included the prince’s daughter Her Highness Sharifah Farah Adriana Binti Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and the Vice-Chancellor of UniMAP Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal.

Having signed the guestbook in the Rector’s Room, His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail took part in a meeting in the Senate Room, during which the crucial information about the Jagiellonian University was presented to the Malaysian delegation. Special focus was placed on the University’s relations with Malaysian higher education institutions, with particular emphasis on student exchange. In this context it was pointed out that since 2005, 52 Malaysian citizens have graduated from the Jagiellonian University. This number includes 49 Medicine graduates, 2 graduates in European Studies and 1 Management graduate. The UniMAP delegation learned about the prospects for cooperation with the Jagiellonian University in different fields of education and research.

The Vice-Chancellor of UniMAP Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal provided additional information about the University’s mission and the prospects for its collaboration with the Jagiellonian University.

The meeting was followed by a short guided sightseeing of JU Collegium Maius, after which the delegation went to the JU Confucius Institute, where a traditional Malaysian dance performance took place.

The delegation of UniMAP authorities was accompanied by a group of more than 30 Malaysian students.
